We asked Dr. Hossain a lot of questions – not all of them ended up on film. Read the Q&A and learn more about what makes Jamil so special. We’re thrilled he’s on the team!

Tell us a little about your background.
I was born in Bangladesh and moved to USA with my family when I was 13. I grew up in West Palm Palm Beach, Florida. Went to Undergrad in University of Florida.

What characteristics come to mind when you think of the ideal doctor?
An Ideal doctor is someone who can provide great care but at the same time relate to his/her patient. Someone who can consider patient’s point of view when treating a pathology.

What drew you to the medical field? Was there a particular moment in time where you realized that you wanted to pursue medicine professionally?
I always wanted to be in the medical field. During college, I shadowed various professionals in the medical fields and ended up spending a lot of time with the local podiatrist since I enjoyed it so much. I really liked what podiatry had to offer, both a combination of medicine and surgery.

What do you like most about living in Nashville?
Nashville is full of great outdoor opportunities. I am excited about taking advantage of various activities that the city can offer like fishing, hiking, and golf.

What aspirations do you have both professionally and personally?
I want to be able to be in a position where I can help people. I want to be able to build my career around that thought process where I can be an effective member of the community that I live in.

When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your time?
I spend a lot of time reading and trying to learn about a new subject. I also spend a lot of my free time fishing, golfing and traveling.

What’s your favorite restaurant in town?
Hattie B’s chicken!

Do you know any good jokes?
There are two fish in a tank. One turns to another and asks, “Hey how do you drive this thing?”
