Front Office Specialist

The Front Desk Specialist will support the main functions of the billing department and work closely with the Front Desk Manager. This role will ensure that all services performed with Advanced Foot and Ankle Care Centers (AFACC) are billed correctly and payments are received in a timely manner while adhering to company, federal, state, and local business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and check them in to the office and then out again at the front desk
  • Ensure patient paperwork gets filled out and then correctly entered into the system
  • Message doctors and medical assistants as needed
  • Look up patient accounts and select co-pays
  • Send out consult notes and send office notes to referring doctors
  • Mailing out new patient letters to all new patients
  • Close out at the end of the day and make sure money is balanced
  • Scan ALL documents including (ABNs, patient paperwork, DME forms, etc)

Qualifications:

  • This position requires an up-to-date understanding of billing and reimbursement procedures and requirements and the ability to research disputes and denials
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external vendors and staff

Call Center Representative

“Call Center” Employees are a crucial part of the health care team here at Advanced Foot and Ankle.

Responsibilities:

  • Juggling multiple phone lines in order to answer every call and make sure the patients get in to see one of our 7 doctors in one of our 5 locations
  • Keeping a schedule of each doctor’s location for the week or day
  • Making sure to schedule the patients accordingly with the patient’s location needs as well as doctoral
  • Pay is based on experience
  • 40 hour work week

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Should have strong computer and phone skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Juggle multiple phone lines while scheduling appointments
  • Use of a computer system/EMR system, EClinical Works – experience using this, or another electronic medical records system is a necessity!
  • Positive demeanor toward the patients calling to schedule appointments
  • Medical insurance knowledge and previous call center experience are a plus!

Insurance Verification Specialist

The insurance verification specialist will verify benefits with insurance providers on behalf of the patients at AFACC. The insurance verification specialist plays a key role in the payment process by communicating with patients, insurance companies, and the doctors at AFACC in order to make sure the process is efficient, accurate, and beneficial to all parties involved.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and review all patient insurance information needed to complete the benefit verification process.
  • Document what the benefits are for each patient, obtain updated information when necessary, and make sure there is a current referral on file if needed.
  • Verify the patient’s healthcare benefits and coverage levels to make sure the services and procedures required for the patient are covered by the insurance provider.
  • Update frequent changes made by each of the payer plans in the system and access the best options available to the providers based on those plans.
  • Obtain the pre-authorizations/pre-determinations of benefits for treatment including DME, MRI, CT Scan, etc and notify the medical assistants or the doctors when authorization is received or denied.
  • Conduct code specific verification of benefits
  • Set up peer to peer physician conversations regarding the necessity of treatment when required for insurance purposes.
  • Communicate benefits with patients and let them know what their estimated out of pocket payment responsibility will be and when it is due.
  • Communicate benefits with patients, physicians and front desk staff.
  • Back up the front office answering phones, scanning, filing and other duties as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • This position requires an up-to-date understanding of insurance verification procedures
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external vendors and staff
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members
  • An aptitude for numbers and the ability to adapt quickly in an ever changing industry
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • +2 year experience working in Insurance Verification

Medical Assistant

The medical assistant performs both administrative and clinical tasks to support the work of the physician as they provide care to patients in the clinics.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and prepare them for examinations and interview patients about their medical histories, pain level, and/or progress being made between appointments.
  • Assist physicians during patient examinations
  • Change patient dressings, removing sutures, take vitals, draw blood and collect lab specimens
  • Help patients understand medical treatments and therapies
  • Answer patient calls and act as a liaison between patients and physicians
  • Provide direction, support, and counseling regarding patient administration of medical therapies and medications
  • Perform administrative tasks relating to patient care such as, arranging for lab services, arranging for hospital admissions, and scheduling appointments
  • Enter and update patient records into EMR
  • Maintain and organize patient information on surgeries and all other patient information packets
  • Clean and prepare all patient rooms, sterilize equipment, and re-stock rooms daily
  • Check machines for proper functioning and clean machines according to the office procedures

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • +2 year experience working as a medical assistant
