Certified Medical Assistant

Our Medical Assistants are a crucial part of the team here at the Advanced Foot and Ankle Care Centers as they are responsible for working closely with the doctor to provide a comprehensive healthcare experience for every patient. This is a hands-on job that requires direct interaction with dozens of patients daily. This means good communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills are vital. Maintaining a strong attendance record is key in this position as our clinics cannot run without the support of our back office staff.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1-2 years of medical assistant experience is required.
  • A degree or certificate in medical assisting is required.
  • Experience in podiatry/orthopedics is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with E-Clinical Works is preferred, but not required.
  • A positive outlook, good attitude, and willingness to learn daily
  • Experience in a busy, medical back office and ability to anticipate the needs of doctors.
  • Desire to deliver exceptional patient care, while keeping up with a fast-paced clinic.
  • Primary location would vary based on proximity to offices and needs of AFACC.

Responsibilities and Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Room patients and take chief complaint, medical history, etc.
  • Assist with procedures and set up room for physician.
  • Take x-rays and help with casting, DME.
  • Documentation for all visits.
  • Escribe and call in medications.

Billing Specialist

A Billing Specialist plays a valuable role on the team at Advanced Foot and Ankle Care Centers. Billing is a complex, ever changing process, so an applicant with experience in and knowledge of this field, as well as the ability to keep up with the changes is desired. AFACC is a fast-paced, growing practice and the ideal candidate for us must be a team player, self-starter, highly motivated and able to multi-task well.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years billing/coding experience, including HIPPA compliance. Medical Billing & Coding Certification preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in Podiatry, Orthopedics or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Prior use/knowledge of EMR software/applications is helpful. Experience with E-Clinical Works strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to navigate CPT, ICD-10, HCPC books.
  • Focused, determined self-starter that possess strong time management skills, strong communication and customer service skills (written & verbal) that works effectively as part of the team.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is necessary.
  • Experience with managerial duties such as overseeing staff, organizing team meetings, putting together protocols and policies, use of Excel spreadsheets and running various types of reports are helpful, but not required.
  • Primary location would vary based on proximity to offices and needs of AFACC.

Responsibilities and Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for timely preparation and electronic submission of clean claims to various insurance companies, and re-submission of corrected claims.
  • Prepare, review, and send patient statements, including determining accounts for collections, collections calls, etc.
  • Verification of insurance benefits/prior authorizations, including following up on denials and appeals.
  • Charge entry and communication with physicians for accurate billing practices.
  • Reconciliation with patient accounts, patient statements and collections.
  • AR experience, including maintaining low % of AR 90+ days.

Medical Front Office Specialist

The Front Office Specialist is a crucial part of the healthcare team here at the Advanced Foot and Ankle Care Centers as they are the first person each patient interacts with, whether it be on the phone or upon walking into the office for the first time. We need our Front Office Specialists to be compassionate, yet assertive and professional as well. The front desk can get hectic at times, and therefore, time management skills are key.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A positive outlook.
  • A strong desire to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple phone lines.
  • A college degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working in a BUSY medical officeor similar capacity is helpful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are also a necessity for this position.
  • Primary location would vary based on proximity to offices and needs of AFACC.

  • Check patients in and out.
  • Schedule appointments via phone and in person.
  • Handle multiple phone lines.
  • Handle patient payments.

Insurance Verification Specialist

The Insurance Verification Specialist is a crucial part of the healthcare team here at Advanced Foot and Ankle Care Centers as they are the person responsible for coordinating between the patient’s needs and their insurance companies to help ensure the patient is getting the best care available. With the number of patients seen daily at AFACC, this position requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • A college degree is preferred, but not required.
  • At least2 years of experience in medical billing and/or insurance, preferably in the specialized area of podiatry or orthopedics.
  • Ability to interact with dozens of patients and insurance representatives throughout the day in person, as well as via phone and computer.
  • Experience with an EMR system, particularly E-Clinical Works, is helpful.
  • Knowledge/understanding of deductibles, copay, coinsurance, prior authorizations, referrals, etc. is required.
  • Primary location would vary based on proximity to offices and needs of AFACC.

Responsibilities and Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Print and fill out superbills for all clinics.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, copay, deductible, coinsurance for each patient visit.
  • Obtain prior authorization, referrals, etc. as needed.
  • Explain insurance benefits and cost of treatment options to patients.
