Dr. Frankfather, Dr. Sudberry and Dr. Retief are physicians who have obtained specialized training in the care of the foot and ankle, medically and surgically.
Robert D. Frankfather, D.P.M. received his B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado. His podiatric medical degree was granted by Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. There he received the Constantine E. Mamas Memorial Award for excellence in orthopedics. His surgical residency was served at the West Houston Medical Center in Houston, Texas where he also received a Fellowship in Reconstructive Ankle and Foot Surgery, and served as chief resident.
Dr. Frankfather is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a member of American Podiatric Medical Association, Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association, and past president of the Middle Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association. He maintains active affiliation with Southern Hills Medical Center, StoneCrest Medical Center, Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Physicians Pavilion Surgery Center in Smyrna and Middle Tennessee Ambulatory Surgery Center in Murfreesboro.
Doctor Frankfather has been in private practice in Nashville since 1998, and when not practicing medicine he enjoys golfing, hunting and skiing with friends and family. Dr. Frankfather is married and has three young boys.
J. Allen Sudberry, D. P. M. is a Tennessee native. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Martin, graduating with honors. After working for several years in Management positions in the chemical industry, he returned to school to complete his podiatric medical training.
Dr Sudberry received his degree in Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center where he was Salutatorian of his graduating class at the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. He then completed his surgical residency at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he served as chief resident.
Doctor Sudberry is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association and is currently the president of the Middle Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Sudberry maintains active hospital affiliations with Southern Hills Medical Center, StoneCrest Medical Center, Middle Tennessee Medical Center and Physicians Pavilion Surgery Center in Smyrna.
Dr. Sudberry enjoys participating in church and civic activities, and has coached youth basketball and soccer. He is married and has three children.
Clifford Retief, D.P.M. is a native South African who attended Vanderbilt University on a athletic scholarship, receiving his B.S. degree. After a stint on the professional tennis tour, he returned to school and obtained his podiatric medical degree from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL. There he graduated Magna Cum Laude and received the Timothy Holbrook Memorial Award for excellence in orthopedics. His surgical residency was completed at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood IL, where he also served ad chief resident in his final year.
Dr. Retief is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a member of both the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association. He maintains active affiliation with Southern Hills Medical Center, Stonecrest Medical Center and Physicians Pavilion Surgery Center in Smyrna.
Dr. Retief has been in private practice in Nashville since 2002. He is also a commercial pilot and enjoys flying and traveling. Other personal interests include racing, biking, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
